Throughout the month we celebrate International Women’s Day, FGV Notícias presents a special interview series highlighting the academic, professional, and social contributions of women at Fundação Getulio Vargas. Under the theme “Women Shaping the Future”, the series aims to build a network of inspiration and recognize the powerful impact of students, professors, researchers, and staff across the institution.

Commitment to Education and Social Development
The influence of women’s work at FGV can be seen in many areas. Tânia Maria de Almeida, an administrative assistant at FGV EPPG in Brasília, shares her sense of responsibility and motivation in building the School’s Social Impact Report. “This report documents and shares our most important initiatives, showing our deep commitment to student development and social progress,” she says. For Tânia, every project featured in the report plays a part in building a more just and prepared society.
Mary de Sousa Batista, an educational analyst at the Pedagogical Support Center at FGV in Brasília, also emphasizes the value of her role in education. “My work is about creating strategies to improve learning, while also supporting students and identifying where they’re struggling.” For Mary, helping shape more confident and capable individuals is one of the greatest purposes of her professional journey.

Innovation and Academic Impact
Women at FGV are also breaking ground in research and knowledge management. Ana Luiza da Conceição Tenório, a postdoctoral researcher at FGV EMAp, is developing a project focused on applying abstract mathematics to machine learning, especially in graph neural networks. “My research dives into mathematical sheaves and explores new possibilities within the field of machine learning,” she explains. Knowing her work can inspire other young scientists brings her a deep sense of fulfillment.
